Who sits on it

The resolution lists 15 seats: two senators and two representatives; the OFI commissioner, attorney general, state treasurer, secretary of the Louisiana Workforce Commission and secretary of state, or their designees; and six industry members from the blockchain, cryptocurrency and digital assets sector, three appointed by the Senate president and three by the House speaker.

Deadlines

The task force had to convene by Oct. 1, 2026, and a Legislature notice shows a meeting on Sept. 21, 2026. Its report is due by May 1, 2027, and the task force ends when it reports or on that date, whichever comes first.

What it studies

Economic impacts, attracting blockchain businesses, government uses of blockchain, other states' regulatory approaches, consumer protection, privacy and other risks, and the cryptocurrency industry's impact, with input from industry and advocates.
