Senate Bill 287 passed the Senate 36-0 and the House 96-0, and the Senate concurred 32-0. Gov. Jeff Landry signed it on May 29, 2026, as Act 482. It took effect Aug. 1, 2026.
What it does
- Lets kiosk users cancel a transaction within 72 hours.
- Requires unlicensed operators to allow cancellation and a full refund at any time, at the operator's expense.
- Requires a response within 10 business days and refunds within 90 days.
- Requires live phone support with a toll-free number on the kiosk and receipt.
- Requires detailed receipts and quarterly refund-request reports to OFI.
